NELLIE VIOLA GILCHRIEST

Nellie Viola Gilchriest was the daughter of Robert Scott and Janey Gilchriest. She was born at Medora, Warren County, Ia., Dec. 31, 1877, and departed this life at Hastings, Nebr., Jan. 29, 1947, at the age of 69 years and 29 days.

She came to Furnas County with her family in 1898 and moved to a farm south of Stamford. The family later moved to Green Forest, Ark., in 1914 and lived one year there. Here her father passed away in that state. On account of failing health she was taken to a Hastings hospital where she passed away.

She leaves to mourn her going an aged mother of Beaver City and 6 sisters and 3 brothers. Mrs. Dane Cridlebaugh and Mrs. Mae Quinn of Beaver City, Mrs. Grace Goosic of Nevada, Ia., Mrs. Maude Montonye of Alma, Mrs. Nannie Thalheim of Long Island, Kansas, and Mrs. Fay Day of Gladstone, Ore.; Charles of Denver, George of Bridgeport, Nebr., and Ted of Broadwater, Nebr.

Two brothers died in infancy.

Also there are a host of nieces and nephews who loved her.

Funeral services were held from the Hopping Funeral Home, Saturday, February 1, at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Lee Crist, pastor of the Grace Brethren Church.

Pallbearers were nephews and nephews-in-law of the deceased.

Mrs. Mary Williams and Mrs. Emeline Fletcher sang.

Burial was in the Deaver Cemetery southeast of Beaver City.
