He was born June 25, 1924 in Friedheim, MO, son of Joseph H. and Frieda (Bachman) Lorenz. He and Doris Propst were married on April 29, 1945. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2017.
Roy was owner/operator of Lorenz Shoe Store. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Elder of Lutheran Men’s Club, Church and Finance Committee chairman. Roy played the trombone in the Jack Trap Orchestra, Harvey J. Miller Orchestra and several other bands.
Other survivors include three sons and two daughters, Dennis (Betty) Lorenz, Patricia Amschler all of Perryville, Peggy Lorenz of Jackson, Kevin Lorenz of Perryville, Scott (Sally) Lorenz of Cape Girardeau, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Janice, three brothers, Edgar, Omar and Web Lorenz, two sisters, JoAnn Redolfi and Irma Hoffstetter and one son-in-law, Stan Amschler.
Visitation will be held at Young & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, November 2 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Saturday, November 3 from 6:30 to 8:15 am. He will then be taken to the Immanuel Lutheran Church for service at 10:00 am with Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
