Silver Creek Sand, Silver Creek, Nebraska-Sept 9, 1921
Mrs. George Campain, well known to most of our readers, died Sunday, September 4, at a Grand Island hospital, after a short illness. Her death came as a shock to the community, very few of those living here having known that she was sick.
She had gone to the hospital for an operation, which was apparently successful, and had been advised she could return home in a few days. She took a sudden turn for the worse during the night Sunday and passed away at 4:30 Sunday morning.
Francis Rose Tlustos was born in Chicago, October 23, 1888, and died at Grand Island on Sunday, September 4, at the age of 32 years, 10 months and 11 days. At the age of five years she moved to Omaha with her parents. From there they moved to Nuckols (sic) county, and in 1912 they moved to Silver Creek, living on the Koutsky ranch in Polk county. On December 24, she was united in marriage to George Campain. In the spring of 1913 they moved to Dallas, S. D., but returned in the fall of the same year and have made their home around here since that time, having been on a farm near St. Edward for the past two years. Two children were born to her, one dyingin (sic) infancy. Besides her husband and an eight year old daughter, she is survived by her aged parents, three brothers and one sister.
The remains were brought to Silver Creek Sunday evening, the funeral services were held at the Congregational Church in Silver Creek Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Fuqua. Because her parents were unable to get here from their home in Minnesota until Wednesday evening, the body was held until Thursday afternoon, when it was laid at rest by the side of her infant cemetary (sic). The Country Club, of which she was a member, attended the funeral in a body.
The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved relatives, and we are again brought face to face with the fact that life is a mighty uncertain thing. Mrs. Campain was a young woman in the very prime of life, with a pleasant, cheerful disposition that won friends for her everywhere she chose to go, it is going to be hard to realize that she has gone from our midst.
