Paul Wendell Wetzel
August 21, 1940 - October 26, 2018

Paul “Wendell” Wetzel, 78 of Aspers, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the York Hospital. He was the husband of Judith Ann (Weigle) Wetzel; together they shared 57 years of marriage.

Born August 21, 1940 in Orrtanna, he was the son of the late Paul Wilmer and Ruby L. (Mickley) Wetzel.

Wendell worked as a truck driver for most of his life, as well as a contractor for several years. He attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church for his entire life and participated in several mission trips with the church, traveling to South Dakota, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Kentucky to do construction work on homes for those in need. He was a life member of the Adams County Fish and Game Association. He loved spending time outdoors, especially at his family’s hunting camp in Tioga County, Pennsylvania in the company of his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Wendell is survived by his children, Doug Wetzel of Aspers, Diane Miller and her husband Thomas of Biglerville; three grandchildren, Benjamin Miller and his wife Abi of East Berlin, Jacqueline Garvey and her husband Ryan of Osterville, MA, Allison Miller of Nashville, TN and two great granddaughters, Sophia and Rachel Miller of East Berlin. Wendell is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Weigle.

A service to celebrate the life of Wendell will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 1455 Mount Carmel Rd., Orrtanna, PA, with Pastor Ken Aker and Pastor Timothy Funk officiating. A time to share memories with the family will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St. Gettysburg PA, and then again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Church. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Orrtanna.
