Born in Greenwich, CT., Rev Dawson retired to The Villages in 2005 from Naples, Florida after a long and varied lifestyle in rescue work. It all began as a volunteer ambulance driver in his hometown and continued in the US Navy as an air/sea rescue boat pilot during World War II.

In civilian life he worked as Chief Train Dispatcher for the New Haven & Hartford Railroad,in New Haven, CT. A massive heart attack ended that career and lead him to a life of Christian Ministry.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gladys, one daughter, Peggy; a son, Wes Jr; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. His firstborn son, Gregory Paul, preceded him in death in 2010
