A terrible accident happened last Friday about 12 o'clock, two miles east of here; the facts being as follows: Old lady Crawley was in the log home occupied by the two colored persons, one of whom had gone to a neighbor's, the other was at a pond near by watering stock. During their absence it seems the old lady had fallen on the fire in the fire place and was still lying in the fire when the man returned from the pond. He called for help which happened to be near. When taken from the fire every particle of clothing and even the flesh in places were burned entirely off. She lingered two hours in dreadful suffering and died. Her request to be buried by her husband in the neighborhood of Syl. Bragg's in Marion county was complied with. The loss of the kind Mrs. will be deeply felt by the whole community, especially the two colored persons Isaah and Hester.

Local Happening.
News reaches from Novelty that an old lady named Crawly living near that place met the horrible fate of being burned to death one day last week. Mrs. Crawley was a widow lady, who lived with a negro man and woman who were away from the house at the time of the accident, but returning shortly after found the old lady lying in front of the fire-place dead, with her clothes nearly all burned from her body. She was about eighty years old.
