Juanita Rae Stanton, 76, of McHenry, MD, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.

Born May 21, 1940, in New Germany, MD, she was a daughter of the late Mabel Juanita (Broadwater) Stanton.
She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Floyd & Mertie Broadwater and a half brother, David Stanton.

Juanita was a graduate of Northern Garrett High School, Class of 1958. Before starting her family, she worked as a secretary for a colonel at the Pentagon. Once back in Garrett County, she became a homemaker, secretary at Garrett College and real estate agent, but Juanita always felt her most important role was taking care of her family and friends.
She was an avid camper and traveled extensively. She was a gifted woman of which gardening, sewing and cooking were her passions. Juanita lived in Garrett County most of her life and was also a part time resident of Bonita Springs, FL
She will always be remembered as a beautiful wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Richard G. Stanton; three daughters, Rebecca Battista and husband, Andrew, Towson, MD; Amy Bednarcik and husband, Michael, Frederick, MD; Laura Maust and husband, Luke, Forest Hill, MD; six grandchildren, Katie Lynagh and husband, Connor; Emily Battista and fiance, Avery Woods, Anne Marie and Patrick Battista; Lucy and Molly Loughlin; two half brothers, Douglas and Joseph Stanton, both of Grantsville; a half sister, Deborah Haning, Springs, PA.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland, MD, on Friday, January 20, 2017, from 4-7 pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 11:00 am, with the Rev. Carl Fike officiating.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the American Heart Association.
