Philip H. Collard, age 74, of Wellington, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 pm Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Bowie St. Church of Christ in Wellington, with Glen Walton of Amarillo and Max McClendon of Shamrock officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 pm Thursday, October 25 at the Fellowship Room of the Bowie St. Church of Christ, 1209 Bowie St., Wellington, TX 79095.

Phil was born December 20, 1943 in Billings, Montana to Harrell and LaNell Collard. He grew up the son of a Church of Christ preacher, which took the family to several different locations – including the following cities in the Texas panhandle: Childress, Littlefield, Borger and Amarillo. Phil graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo, TX in 1962. He attended Abilene Christian College and began serving as a Youth Minister at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood, TX. He later also attended the Randol Mill School of Practical Evangelism in Arlington, TX.

Phil and Beth met at the Austin Avenue church and were married on June 6, 1969. Shortly after their wedding, they moved to Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada to start their first ministry together. Their partnership in ministry continued throughout their marriage and included works in: Stephenville, TX; Lewisville, TX; Cleburne, TX; Hereford, TX; LaJunta, CO; Roscoe, TX; Hillsboro, TX; and finally, in Wellington, TX.

Phil was known for his love…his love of animals, his love of fishing, his love of being the "Tail Twister" of the Wellington Lion's Club and especially his love of Wellington Skyrockets football. But the two things that defined him the most were his love for people and his love for God.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Harrell and LaNell Collard and by his son, Brady Paul Collard.

His survivors include his wife of 49 years, Beth Collard; his son, Landon Collard and his wife Kristen; and his grandchildren, Brady, Reagan and Brycen Collard.
