Helen F. (Nose) Wood
January 7, 1923 – October 21, 2018

Helen was born second of six children in Fairmont, West Virginia to Esta Jane and William Francis Nose on January 7, 1923. She graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1940. She served her country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in Washington, D.C. working as a clerk in the Naval Intelligence section.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Husband Charles C Wood, Sister Florence Fife and brother William "Bud" Nose.

Helen is survived by her son Sam (Anita) Wood of Clearwater, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brian Wood of Fairmont, Abigail Harden of San Francisco, CA, Jon Harden of Fairmont, Caitlin (Dallas) Longwell of Palm Bay, FL and Erin (Austin) Martin of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Aaliyah, Freyja and Asher.

She is survived by her older sister Virginia Marshall of Texas and son Marc, brother Charles Nose (Irene) of Georgia son Danny and daughters Charlene, Erin and Ericka and sister Laura Jean (James) Swindell of Virginia and son Brett. Other nieces and nephews include Florence's daughter Martha Fife Buehring and Bud's daughter Debra Nose Fisher and son Bill Nose.

Helen was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Fairmont, WV. She always stood and saluted as the American flag passed by in a parade.

Helen loved crafts and doing puzzles and word search games. She always loved the Peanuts characters especially Snoopy.

She was very independent until falling three years ago and having to move Miletree in Spencer, WV. The family would like to thank the staff at Miletree for providing her with the best care available.

In keeping with her wishes, no formal service will be held.
In honor of Helen we would like and remembrances be made in her name to Veterans Organizations or Childrens Causes.
