AMELIA JOSEPHINE (SCHMITT) REYNOLDS - The following is the obituary of Mrs. Amelia Josephine (Schmitt) Reynolds, who died in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, January 4, 1919 and whose remains were brought to Prophetstown for burial. Mrs. Reynolds was well known in Prophetstown and vicinity and her friends will learn of her death with sorrow. Amelia Josephine Schmitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thoephilus Schmitt, was born in Yorktown township, Bureau county May 1, 1868 and died January 4, 1919 of heart failure. On May 6, 1891 she was married to Warren E. Reynolds, and to them were born three children: Eva Georgiana, who preceded her mother in death, Helena Belle and Edwin L. both residing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mrs. Reynolds had been in poor health for some years, and four years ago last September moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to make home for her children. Beside the children she leaves to mourn her death, her mother, Mrs. Theophilus Schmitt, two sisters and six brothers; Mrs. L.E. McNamara, of Prophetstown; Mrs. Philip Mathis of Hooppole; Edward of LosAnimas, Clordo; august A. of Ellendale, Minnesota; George H. of Waterford, California; Frank X. of Prophetstown; John of Columbus, Ohio and Charles A. of Lima, Ohio. Mrs. Reynolds was a member of the M. E. church, also of the Rebekah order, in both of which she was true to her vows. She was a true mother and wife and a lady who held the highest respect of all who knew her for her many beautiful qualities, especially that of motherhood of which her children will testify. The funeral was held Tuesday from the Mrs. Harriet Reynolds home and was presided by Rev. W.R. Wilson of the M.E. church of this place. Burial was made in Riverside.
