Betty was born November 12, 1926 in Eaton Socon, England to Walter Purcival George Oakley and Doris Mary Abrahams Oakley.

As a young lassie in England, she was swept off her feet by the "handsome Yankee in uniform", who was serving in the United States Army during WWII. After their marriage in England, they made their home in the Kansas City area where they shared 72 years of love and happiness before her husband, Virgil passed in 2016. Into this union five children were born.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Jimmy, Ron and Fred Oakley and her beloved husband, Virgil.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Carol DeGroote (Marv), Wayne Brown (Karen), Cheryl Watters (Jimmy), Warren Brown (Nancy) and Wesley Brown (Samanatha). Her grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Doug, Denise, Dale, Stacey, Corey, Marlo, Peter, Michael, Amanda, Mallory, Taylor, Madison and Kennedy; 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews both here and abroad.

Her British accent, recipes, hugs and friendship will be missed by all.
