Lois Virginia (Wachtel) Contois (December 20, 1925 - October 16, 2018)

Lois Virginia (Wachtel) Contois, 92, passed away on October 16, 2018. Lois was born on December 20, 1925, to Frank and Elsie (Peterson) Wachtel. Lois' husband, Harold L. Contois, preceded her to heaven in 2007. Her sister, Leone Phillips; her brother, Frank Wachtel; and her great-granddaughter, Chelsey Berry, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving children, Linda Herrin (James) of Brentwood, CA, and Steven Contois (Paula Nance) of Wasilla, AK; her grandchildren, Ryan Berry (Molly) of Concord, Jeff Herrin (Laura) of Antioch, and Colleen Busch (Matt) of Roseville; and; her great-grandchildren, Miles Berry, Jack and Linneya Herrin, and Ashton, Brooklyn, and Carson Busch.

She volunteered at McClellan Field during WWII and was active in her church, First Church of God, leading youth group, playing the piano, and singing in the choir. She worked in the grocery industry as a bookkeeper for over ten years. She married Harold in 1957, a devoted wife for 50 years until he passed. They relocated to the Bay Area in 1958, retired to Idaho in 1983, and returned in 1998. Lois loved God and country. Lois truly cherished her family and friends. She was the family historian retaining documents, greeting cards, and pictures throughout the years. She loved gardening, music, and was a faithful servant to her church families wherever she lived. We are blessed to have had her as our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother for as long as we did.

Visitation will be held at Sacramento Memorial Lawn (6100 Stockton Blvd., in Sacramento) on Tuesday, October 23, at 10:00 am. Her funeral begins at 11:00 am, followed by interment. The family requests any donations to Hospice of the East Bay.
