Bessie Loyce (Martin) Rhodes, 96, of Cypress, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2022, in Cypress, Texas. Bessie was born March 28, 1926 in Brookshire, Texas to Elza and Aghney (Agopian) Martin. She grew up in Brookshire, graduating from Katy High School. Bessie furthered her education, earning a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Houston, class of 1959. For 25 years, Bessie enriched the minds of children in the Cy-Fair and Royal Independent School Districts. Bessie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brookshire and a very strong Christian. She attended church her entire life and enjoyed sharing her love of Jesus with others and reading her Bible.

On February 26, 1948, Bessie was united in marriage with Abb Rhodes, Jr. at the First United Methodist Church of Brookshire. Their beautiful love story lasted 56 years until Abb's passing. Bessie was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She treasured every moment she spent with her family. On the weekends, she loved going with her husband and kids to their ranch in Williamson County. After retirement, Bessie and Abb bought a lake house on Lake LBJ. A lot of time was spent at the lake house making fun memories with her family and lake house buddies. In her spare time, Bessie very much enjoyed gardening and playing piano. She also adored her Pomeranian whom she named Abb, after her husband.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Turner and husband, Richard, of Cypress; granddaughters, Heather Wolfe and husband, Rex, of League City, Tabby Meginnis and husband, Garry, of Temple, and Amanda Guillians of Huffman; 10 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Tiffany, Katelyn, Grace, Brooke, Zanna, Kelsey, Collin, Cassidy, and Addie; 3 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, Dayl and Donnell; nephews, Darryl, Duff, and Mike; and many friends.
