Ann C Coughenour of Novato, CA, died peacefully at the Spring Valley Care Center in Spring Valley, WI, on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the age of 77. She is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Marian Coughenour, and her beloved sister Dede Houdek.

Ann was born on April 19, 1940, in Chicago, IL, and was the oldest of 6 children. She graduated HS from Cardome Visitation Academy in Kentucky after going to numerous Catholic schools with her sister Dede throughout her life. She received her Bachelors degree from Rosary College in Donnors Grove, Il, and her Masters in Education from Omaha University. Ann was diagnosed with cerebral palsy after being born premature weighing just 2 lbs. 10 oz. Her mother taught her that she was no different than anyone else and that she could do anything she chose to do. Therefore Ann lived her life to the fullest travelling alone to many countries around the world with just a backpack and a wheelchair, regardless of the adversities she faced. She attended the Carmelite Monastery in California before she began teaching CCD classes for her church Our Lady of Loretto, in Novato, CA, where she ended up living most of her life with her many friends. Ann loved her sister and best friend Dede more than anything and chose to move to Spring Valley to be with Dedes family at the end of her life. Her strength, perseverance, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ will always be an inspiration to those who knew her.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, August 26th, at 3:00 p.m. (visitation at 2:00 p.m.) at Sacred Heart Church in Spring Valley, WI. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please send memorials to either Our Lady of Loretto in Novato, CA, or Sacred Heart Church in Spring Valley, WI to be used towards their CCD programs.
