Thomas J. Blow
08/19/1929 - 10/18/2018

Thomas J. Blow, 89, passed away peacefully October 18, 2018 surrounded by his family in Daytona Beach, FL. A resident since 1985, he relocated here from Burlington, VT. Born August 19, 1929 in New York City, New York to Wilfred and Winifred Blow, his father moved the family to Vermont when Tom was a teenager.

A Cathedral (Rice) High School graduate, he was President of the class of 1947. Popular with the girls, he dated a lot until he met the love of his life, Gabrielle "Betsy" Audette. They married on March 26, 1951 and shared their lives together having five children.

He served his country: four years Navy Reserve, two years US Army, eight years US Army Reserve, and 23 years with the Vermont Air National Guard totaling 37 years of military service culminating with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. A consummate salesman, his earlier years were spent working three jobs in beverage sales, insurance and wedding invitations to make ends meet, yet always having time for his family and friends.

He loved to entertain in his home making sure everyone was welcome with a drink and food in hand, and music to dance. He was a devout Roman Catholic, and Usher for his church, and a 61 year member of the Knights of Columbus. His faith was strong until the end. Anyone who knew him couldn't help but love him - his big smile, genuine loving spirit and generous ways.

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 68 years Gabrielle (Betsy) Blow and his children: Daniel T. Blow, Kathleen B. Clavelle, Jayne W. Blow, John W. Blow, Andrew C. Blow, their respective spouses, significant others, seven grand children and one great-grand child. Also surviving are his brothers Robert J. Blow of Shelburne, VT, Michael Blow of Rutland, VT, and sister Mary McGrath of Maryville, TN.

Special thanks to Kindred Hospice and Halifax Health Hospice, Dr. Wesley Driggers, MD, the Daytona Beach Fire Department and Volusia County EVAC for their seemingly endless support.

Burial service will be October 26, 2018 at 9:00am, Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 U.S. Highway 1 North, Mims, FL 32754. A memorial service will be held afterward at 1:00pm at Shannon Maloney Funeral Home, 4084 Halifax Drive, Port Orange, FL 32127.
