Isaac Hurst Constant was born to Margaret and John. He had at least five older siblings: Lena, John Martin, Octavia, Ruth and Hoke; and at least one younger sister Hallie.

At some point Isaac began to use the name Harvey Issac, I am not sure if he changed his name legally, but that was the name on his social security card. He lived in Bowman Township which is in Humphreys Village, Sullivan County, Missouri at least until he was a teenager. Harvey learned to read and write and was a high school graduate.

He was married to Anna E. Nethercott on June 20, 1918 in Salt Lake County, Utah. He and Anna lived with her parents (Charles and Rebecca) in the early 1920's in Oakland, California. Also living in the home on the 1920 Census are Anna's siblings Flossie, Henry (# 66064864) and Melvin. Also her sister Ethel and her husband Robert White.

Harvey can be found alone in the 1940 Census in San Francisco, he reported being married, but he could have been separated.
