Husband Joseph H. Aldrich perished in the much publicized disaster, when a passenger train crashed into a valley in a snowstorm when the railroad bridge collapsed. He is noted on a memorial in the local cemetery in Ashtabula, OH, and is probably buried there among the unidentified and badly burned remains place in a common grave.
