Clarence was the son of Rev. Abram Nelson Wylie and Clara Elizabeth Polkinhorn. He married Nellie Agnes Miller on Aug 20, 1904 and they had 5 children. Nellie died in 1934. His 2nd wife was Elberta McDonald Wylie.

The Rev. Clarence Nelson Wylie, 86, a Presbyterian minister of 50+ years. Rev. Wylie was an eight generation Presbyterian minister and was moderator of the Presbyterian Synod of Texas in 1944. He was survived by his wife, Elberta Wylie, daughters Grace Wylie Adcock, Ruth Wylie Spivey and Thelma Wylie Sartain; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services were held at the Village Presbyterian Church. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. The pallbearers: Rev. W.W. Adcock, Dr. R.C. Spivey, Sr., Dr. A.Q. Sartain, Rev. R.C. Spivey, Jr., Dr. J.E. Spivey and Mr. A. Fordenwalt.
