Virgil D Brown 29
Susan J Brown 37
Martha E Brown 2
-----
Plattsburg Leader, Plattsburg, Mo. 1-27-1911:
MRS. VIRGIL BROWN.
The death of Mrs. Brown was announced as having occurred last Tuesday morning, January 24th, 1911. She had been in poor health for a long time. The best of treatment had been provided and there was a general belief that her health was much restored. But a few weeks ago she became very sick and there was no relief till death came.
Funeral services were held at Grayson, Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. J. P. Jesse of Gower. Music was rendered by a choir from Plattsburg, consisting of Miss Eaton, Mr. E. Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Shoemaker. Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery, by the side of the father and sister of deceased.
Susan Josephine Bennett was born June 16, 1872, on a farm near Grayson. She was the youngest daughter of Lewis and Martha Bennett. Two sisters, Mrs. Stanton Fields of Liberty, and Mrs. Robt. Marshall of Grayson, a brother, James Bennett, of Seattle, survive her, as also does her mother, now 76 years old and living with Mrs. Fields. One sister, Mrs. Lewis Cockrell, is dead. Her husband and the little daughter, Martha Elizabeth, born January 8th, 1908, also remain, bereft of her gentle presence.
Her father was born in Virginia and her mother in Kentucky. Both migrated to Missouri in early life. Susan Bennett joined the Christian Church at Grayson at an early age. She was married to Virgil Brown, December 24, 1901. They shortly moved to California but returned to this county over a year ago. Mrs. Brown was a lady of good character and refined manner. Her memory will remain long upon the minds of those who knew her. For the relatives, especially for the husband and the tiny daughter, there is unbounded sympathy.
