Donald J. Waterman, 83, of Portland, Maine, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Saturday October 13, 2018 after a courageous battle with health issues.

He was born in Portland Maine at the Maine Eye and Ear Infirmary to Albert and Victoria Waterman. He grew up in the Willard Square area of South Portland. He met the love of his life, Beverly, at a dance and they recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.

After graduating from Harmon Hall School in York Harbor Maine, Don enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving four years as a parachute rigger and was a Korean War Vet. He also served in the Air National Guard out of the 243rd Engineering Installation Squadron for a total of 23 years of military service before retiring as a Master Sergeant. He enjoyed his work at CMP as a lineman, then later as a Field Planner; he was a dedicated employee.

He was witty, kind, generous, loving, loyal and hardworking. He enjoyed traveling in the States and abroad with his wife. Don was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved all winter sports, and enjoyed working around his home organizing or completing remodels.

Don was predeceased by his father, Albert Waterman and step-mother Ruth, his mother Victoria Waterman, sister Elsie Timberlake and her husband Paul, and brother Robert Waterman.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Waterman of Portland; his daughter Laurie and her husband Kevin Murphy of Gray; and his daughter Julie Waterman and her husband George Feinberg of Falmouth.

His smile, kindness, warmth and generous hugs will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
