SINGTON, DAVID NAPIER Age 75 of Huntsville, Alabama died on December 8th. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy and Fred Sington; brother, Leonard Sington. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Payne Sington; daughter, Cindy Daily (Jay); son, Dee Sington; grand-daughters, Megan and Claire Daily; and brother, Fred Sington Jr. (Joyce) of Gadsden, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Shades Valley High School and from the University of Alabama where he played foot-ball and became the team Captain for Coach Bryant's inaugural season. Most of his business career was as an owner of Fred Sington's Sporting Goods and he was later recognized as the President of the National Sporting Goods Association. He served as President of the Huntsville Red Elephant Club and Captain of the Quarterback Club. He coached 2 Huntsville semi pro football teams: the Huntsville Rockets and the Alabama Hawks. He was also inducted into the Madi-son County Sports Hall of Fame. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at First Christian Church.
