Eugene “Bud” R. Larsen, 90 of Humboldt, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Humboldt Care Center North where he made his home the past six years.

He was born January 19, 1928 in Livermore, Iowa, the son of Magnus and Helen (Pedersen) Larsen. He grew up on a farm as a young boy and graduated from Bradgate High School. He was drafted into the military in March of 1951 and served on the front line in the 3rd Battalion of the United States Army in Korea. Bud served until December 1952 and was awarded the Combat Infantry Medal for his acts of bravery in his time of service. Following the Korean War, he returned to Humboldt where he made his home and was employed for many years at Humboldt Concrete Products. Following his retirement and later in life he became a caretaker for his parents. He was a kind man who loved to smile, had a strong faith was devoted to his family and loved to eat.

Bud is survived by his sisters, Darlene and Janiece; and six nephews, Doug, William, Steven, Joel, Brent and Brian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers-in-law, Dale Kunert and Jerry Paulson and his nephew, Jeffrey Paulson.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20th at the Rutland Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial with military honors by the Sathers-Odgaard American Legion of Humboldt will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge.
