Alice Tennie Moore was born to Lydia Ann (Siverly) Moore and Aden Moore on December 20, 1903 in Clark Center, Illinois. Her parents died in 1911 and 1909 respectively and she was sent to the Du Quoin Children's Home for Orphans. Alice was then welcomed into the home of Elnorah (Teel) and Charles Bossle, becoming their foster daughter. Her sister Ruth became the foster daughter of Elnorah's brother Rollo Teel and his wife Nellie. The families both lived on farms in the Paradise Prairie area and the sisters were able to visit each other frequently. Ruth was 2 years older than Alice. Both girls were fully welcomed into the extended Teel family.

In 1923 Alice and Phillip Provart were united in marriage on December 26 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Of this union, a daughter, Betty Lou was born in 1926. Betty married Loren Teel, the nephew of Alice's foster parents.

Alice was known to be a master quilter and an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed gardening and was a skilled baker. Alice also worked as a sales associate at the Economy Variety Store. She was a member of the member of the First United Methodist Church and her husband was a teacher and eventually the long time Superintendent of Perry County Schools.

Alice had lived in the Du Quoin area for more than 7 decades. She was appointed as a clerk in elections. She died at the age of 101 on May 10, 2005 in Friendship Village of West County in Chesterfield, Missouri. She had been in failing health for several years. At the time of her death she had 2 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. A funeral was held in Du Quoin, Illinois and Alice was laid to rest next to her husband, Phillip, in Sunset Memorial Park and near her daughter Betty Lue.

Note on death of her parents: her obituary states they both passed in 1913, but 1910 census shows Lydia as widowed and head of household. In addition, their headstones have the earlier dates. It could be Alice arrived at the Children's home in 1913. She would have been 10 years old in 1913 and then 6 when her father died and 8 when her mother died.
