From THE OFTEBRO FAMILY, Vol 2, p181:

Helene was born in 1881 at Upper Oftebro (Oftebro no. 5) in 1881. In 1908 she married Abraham Benedikt Seland. Benedikt was born in 1873 and grew up at Øvre Berge in Lyngdal. Before he married Helene, Benedikt had been digging gold in Johannesburg. Benedikt's brother, Theodore Seland, who married Helene's second cousin 3-2-2- Anna Katrine (Rom) Seland, had been working in the coalmines in Durban.
Helene and Benedikt settled at Bergsaker, where their son, Ingvald, was born in 1909. Benedikt was a farmer and was one of the founders of Lyngdal Handelslag, Lyngdal's local trade association. During his work in the mines, he developed lung problems, and this caused his death in 1918. As a widow Helene bought back Upper Oftebro according to allodial law. Helene and Ingvald moved there where they lived together with Helene's parents and half sister. Helene was a member of the Rom Mission Society for women. Ingvald built a new house at Bergsaker. Helene stayed with Ingvald and his family from 1962-1970. The last years Helene lived at "Lyngdalsheimen" - the local nursing home, where she died at the of 92.
