FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN CALLAWAY Robert S. Burks, 75, a former resident of Jefferson City, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Pete Hartman near Holts Summit, after an illness of about 7 years. Burks was born in Kentucky Dec. 7, 1870 and moved to Miller County when a young man. He came to jefferson City 22 years ago, and lived here until 1943. His wife, formerly Livona Albertson, preceded him in death in 1918. Besides Mrs. Hartman he is survived by four other daughters, Mrs. Alonzo Vurnham (Burnham), 1506 Adams St., Mrs. Joe Rice, 1136 Jefferson St., Mrs. Icy Short of St. Louis and Mrs. Claud Richardson of Lemay. The body will lie in state at the Tanner Funeral Home until Sunday afternoon when Funeral services will be held near Tuscumbia.
The birthdate is obviously not 1870 since he was listed in the 1870 census
