Friday Sept. 23, 1932, "AGED FLATWOODS RESIDENT IS DEAD. LEONARD VALLANCE DIED LAST FRIDAY: WAS 74 YEARS OLD". "The Angel of Death, following a lengthy illness, last Friday evening claimed Leonard VALLANCE, aged and highly respected resident of Flatwoods. Mr. Vallance who was one of the best known residents of Flatwoods, was 74 years old. Final services were held at Cheap Church Sunday afternoon, with Rev. Sowards in charge. Burieal was in Rude Cemetery. Surviving are the wife and the following children- Rev. Cleveland VALLANCE of Ironton; James Mart; and Theodore VALLANCE, Mrs. Mary Caudill; Mrs. Ella Clere and Mrs. Nora Westfall all of Flatwoods."
