Gary was the son of Robert Lincoln and Marian King Barrett. He graduated was Southern High School and attended Anne Arundel Community College and the Lear Siegler Computer Institute. He married Lillie Talbott in 1966.
He was employed by Bay Electric and retired from Verizon after 30 years. In 1998 he went to work for Southern Maryland Cable Company.
He was a member of St. James Parish, Lothian Ruritan Club, Maryland Beekeepers Association and former member of the Deale Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife Lillie of Fairhaven, sons Robert and Michael, two grandsons and sister Cheryl Kester of Phoenix, Arizona.
