James Conner, who has lived for some time past with his mother at the home of Levi Anderson, about twenty miles northeast of this city, killed himself Saturday by cutting his throat with a small pen-knife. Conner left the house at ten o'clock in the morning to hunt hazel nuts, and his body was found at two. He was never hearty or strong in mind or body. About a year ago he was dismissed from the insane asylum at Topeka, having been sent there from this county. His age was twenty-three years. That he preferred death to a miserable existence is to his credit—although he violated a divine law. Surely his weary spirit will not be condemned to eternal torment.
