COURIER JOURNAL ARTICLE – 10/06/2003
A 22-year-old Louisville man died Saturday [October 4, 2003] of injuries suffered Friday afternoon in a head-on collision of pickup trucks on Dixie Highway, police said yesterday. Joshua Steven Baird, a student at Jefferson Community College, died at University Hospital. He had been taken there after the pickup he was driving struck a guardrail, crossed the median and hit another pickup, said Officer Dwight Mitchell, a spokesman for Louisville Metro Police. A man and woman, both thought to both be about 70 years old, were in the other truck. Their names and their conditions were not available yesterday. Mitchell said the investigation of the crash is continuing. Police think Baird had a medical condition that contributed to the accident, Mitchell said. He did not elaborate.
