Lake City—Joyce Hiler, 90, passed away Monday, October 8, 2018.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Lake City Union Church with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rockwell City.

Joyce is survived by her three sons, Terry and his wife, Judy; Lonny and his wife, Emmy Lou; Bill and his wife, Julie; grandchildren, Lisa, Nathen (Amanda), Nichole (Prescott), Stephanie (Justin) and Jeff (Ashley); seven great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Doris and Jeannie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1997; parents, George and Mary Ann (McCoy) Astleford; siblings, Dale, Verva, Chuck, Paul (Dutch), Harold, Anna Marie Allen, Mary Ellis, Gary and George Jr.

Joyce was born on June 2, 1928 to George and Mary Ann (McCoy) Astleford. She was united in marriage to Paul Hiler on October 26, 1945. Joyce was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, sewing, painting, and making and dressing dolls for which she received many awards. To her family she was famous for her homemade pizza, breadsticks and red cake. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. There was no doubt of her unconditional love for her family. She was intelligent with a quick wit and ever-present smile. She was an active member of the Democratic Party, an election poll worker for many years and shared her many talents in dedicated service to her church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
