Nellie was married (firstly) on January 17, 1887, at Howard, Elk County, Kansas, to Michael Flanery (born 1861, in Wisconsin), the son of Mike Flanery and Mary Cummins. He was living with his brothers at Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas in 1880. He was a miner and is believed to have died circa 1892, possibly in Colorado.

Nellie married (secondly) in 1894, in Colorado, to Frank Otho Hoine. They were divorced circa 1901.
