Alverta Mae (Wilt) Stanton, 88, of Grantsville, MD, died Sunday, September 23, 2018, at WMHS Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD.

Born December 11, 1929, in Jennings, MD, she was the daughter of the late Loman and Lola (Hoover) Wilt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Stanton; her longtime companion, Woodrow J. Durst; one daughter, Maxine Warnick; one grandson, John Lee Knox, Jr.; one son-in-law, William Spicher; one brother, Buddy; three sisters, Annabelle, Shirleen and Marie; two half-brothers, Frank and Paul Hay and one half-sister, Mary Etta Hay.

Alverta was a homemaker.

She is survived by eight sons, Donald and wife, Carolyn; Tommy and wife, Zelda; Allen and wife, Alice; Jeff and wife, Shari; Mike and wife, Charlotte; Dave; Jame and wife, Shelly and Billy and wife, Pam; two daughters, Bonnie; and Cindy and companion, Danny Wilt; two brothers, Calvin and Fay; one sister, Betty Jane; 29 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Harry Paterson officiating. Interment will be in the Bittinger Cemetery.
