Obituary

Thomas J. Bugg, Jr., 91, of Waynesboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Baldwin, Florida in 1927 to the late Thomas Jones Bugg, Sr. and Ruby Ellis Bugg. He spent his childhood years in Augusta and his later years in Tucker and in Eatonton before returning to central Georgia and settling in Waynesboro for his golden years. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII and The Korean Conflict. Mr. Bugg was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waynesboro where he served as an Elder and was also a member of the Masonic Order in Tucker. He loved gardening and spending time outdoors. He was a devoted family man and a devout Christian, who was loved and respected by many.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bugg was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Beulah Howard Bugg; and a son, Richard Anthony Bugg (1956).

He is survived by his four children and their spouses: Thomas and Jacki Bugg of Jasper, GA; Cheryl and George Bell of Hoschton, GA; Laurie and Marshall Norris of Orlando, FL; Lisa and Byron Brown of Waynesboro, GA; grandchildren and their spouses: Hannah Rose Bugg, Jennifer Bell, Christie Bell Jones and Will Jones, Jillian Norris Love and Nathan Love, Chad Norris, Trey Norris, Tucker Brown, and Kendall Ruby Brown; great-grandchildren: Chapman Jones, Campbell Jones, and Eden Love; five sisters, Genelle Johnson of Macon, Virginia Rosier, Inez "Kitty" McLeroy, Rose Tebow, and Brenda "Lacey" Wilbanks, all of Augusta; and four brothers, Julian Bugg, Roger Bugg, Stanley Bugg, and Sterling Bugg, all of Hephzibah.

Pallbearers will be Chad Norris, Trey Norris, Tucker Brown, Mark Phillips, Tommy Powell, Boyce Thompson, Sammy Lee, Roy Black, and David Hamrick.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his brothers, Julian Bugg, Roger Bugg, Stanley Bugg, and Sterling Bugg.

The family will receive visitors Friday evening, October 5 from 5-8 pm at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home, 220 East 6th Street in Waynesboro. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Waynesboro on Saturday, October 6 at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta.

Flowers are accepted or remembrances may be made in his memory to First Baptist Church of Waynesboro Building Fund.
