Antonia Jeanne (Blacketter) Nicholls was born September 28, 1919 and passed away on September 10, 2018, aged 98 years.

Antonia (Toni) was born to Lucille and Louis Blacketter in Akron, Ohio where she lived until married. Toni was predeceased by two sisters and a brother. She attended school in her hometown of Akron and graduated from Akron University in 1941.

Toni met Eric Nicholls at Akron University and in 1939 they were voted as AU's most represented couple and were featured exclusively in the college yearbook. At AU Toni was appointed as a student manager of the Student Union, an honor of which she was extremely proud. She was an active member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

Toni and Eric wed in May 1943, and shortly thereafter relocated to New Haven, Connecticut where Eric served in the US Army Air Corps at Yale University, and where their first son Eric Jr. was born. Another transfer to Langley Field, Virginia and then back to Akron where their second son Dennis was born.

Eric's job with Phoenix Mutual Insurance moved the family to Oregon where Eric was called back to active duty. Assignments followed to Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC where Toni volunteered as a Gray Lady at Walter Reed Army Hospital. Following three years at Tachikawa AFB in Japan, they were assigned to Topsom AFS in Brunswick, Maine. Toni always served as a gracious hostess as Eric served as Base Commander. From Maine they moved to Colorado Springs and were then assigned to Thailand. Toni traveled to Thailand via Hawaii, Tokyo, and Taiwan to join Eric.

After retirement they enjoyed an adventurous five-month camping trip throughout Europe. In addition to their military assignments, they traveled throughout Europe, China, Australia, Africa, Mexico, where they enjoyed a vacation home for many years, South America, North America, and finally to Roseville, California to be close to family.

Toni was dedicated to raising her two sons and was generous with her time and talents. She was a wonderful cook and was always on the cutting edge of healthy living. Toni is survived by her son Eric (Betty) of Tennessee, Dennis (Katherine) of Sacramento, and grandchildren Amy Swanson of Ohio, Christopher (Lucie) Nicholls, Lindsay (Zachary) Mandeville, and great-grandchildren Holden and Carlin Swanson, and Lorelai Mandeville.

The family would like to thank Interim Healthcare Hospice and the wonderful, caring staff at Sierra Pointe Vintage Senior Living facility for all the care and attention to Toni. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a charity of your choice.

Toni will be interred with Eric at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Ca. in a private service at a future date.
