PEORIA, Ariz. — Ellis M. Hauger Jr. passed away Nov. 23, 2016, at the Paseo Village in Peoria, Ariz.

Ellis was born to Ellis M. Hauger Sr. and Dorothea (Magill) Hauger on Jan. 14, 1929. Ellis was born in Mount Vernon where he lived most of his life until moving to Florida.

Ellis was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Claire (Hull) and two daughters, Jean Ann and Jennifer Clair, as well as his brother, David Hauger of Spokane, Wash.

Ellis is survived by his son, Terry and his wife, Patti of Oscoda, Mich.; and his daughter, Jodi Collier and her husband, Michael, of Phoenix, Ariz. Also surviving him is his sister, Shirley Goudy of New Orleans and special friend, Dottie Dana of Port Richey, Fla. Ellis was blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

After his retirement from the Pittsburg Plate Glass Company he went on to gain a reputation as a successful harness horse trainer and driver in the central Ohio area.

While living in Mount Vernon, Ellis was active in many civic groups including The Ohio Society for Crippled Children and Easter Seals. Those wishing to honor Ellis may do so by selecting a charity of their choice.

A memorial will be planned for the spring of 2017 in Mount Vernon.
