Rev. Anthony Adducci, ordination class of 1976, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Fr. Adducci retired in 2016 after serving most recently as chaplain at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago. He was 67 years old. Born on Nov. 2, 1950, in Chicago, Fr. Adducci attended St. Anthony of Padua Grammar School and Quigley Preparatory Seminary South, both in Chicago. He graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, Ill., in 1976. Fr. Adducci was ordained to the priesthood on May 12, 1976, by John Cardinal Cody, Archbishop of Chicago, and celebrated his first solemn Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Chicago on May 23 of the same year. After ordination to priesthood, Fr. Adducci served as associate pastor at St. Ferdinand Parish on Barry Avenue and Holy Rosary Parish on Western Avenue, both in Chicago. Subsequently, he served as chaplain at St. Anne's Hospital, St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital and most recently at St. Joseph Hospital, retiring in 2016. Rev. Dennis Zalecki, a classmate and pastor emeritus of St. Anastasia Parish in Waukegan, Ill., had known Fr. Adducci since their high school years at Quigley South. "He was a very good priest and friend, and humor was one of his outstanding characteristics." According to Fr. Zalecki, although Fr. Adducci's health had been fragile, he always maintained a sense of hopefulness. Born and raised in Chicago's Roseland neighborhood/St. Anthony of Padua Parish; son of the late Mary (née Curci) and James Adduci, CFD; brother of Samuel (Linda) Adducci; uncle of Christina (Gene) Kent and James (Jacqueline) Adducci; great uncle of Samuel, Aiden, Gianna, Joseph, Anthony and Matthew; dear friend of many. Resting at St. Alexander Catholic Church, 7025 West 126th St., Palos Heights on Thursday October 4, 2018 from 3:00-9:00pm. Funeral Friday, October 5, 2018 with viewing from 10:00am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am.
