In 1927, Doris, with her mother and siblings, Weldon Chester, Edna Thelma, Willard Earl, Helen Mildred, Robert Henry and Howard Alvin, relocated to reside in Texas.
Doris married Woodson William Betz. Doris and Woodson settled in McLennan County, where the first of their two sons, Woodson William, Jr, was born. The family soon welcomed a second son, Richard.
At the time of her death, Doris lived in La Marque, Galveston County, with husband, Guy R Justice, her sons, Woodson and Richard, and stepchildren, Linda Jane Justice and Danny T Justice. Doris was a 15-year resident of Galveston County and had lived in La Marque for 8 years.
Death occurred September 25, 1960, at Galveston County Memorial Hospital, now Mainland Center Hospital, Texas City, about two hours after Doris was discovered at the scene of the early morning accident where her car crashed head-on into a concrete abutment. She died at the age of 34.
Services were September 28, at James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, the Reverend Bernard Guy of First Baptist Church officiating. Pall Bearers were Raymond Going, Ernie Hoffman, Gene Parrish and Ernie Weber, all of Galveston, Dudley Parrish of Hitchcock and Sidney Riggs of La Marque.
