Mrs. Hower was the eighth child of Virgie Mae Cooper and John F. Cotner. She was raised in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, where she graduated with honors from Bloomsburg High School, and was recognized in Senior Superlatives as being “Best Dancer”. Her happiest memories were of being at the “Barbeques” where she danced the night away, and met her future husband, the late Edwin Eugene Hower.

She was employed by the PP & L in Bloomsburg until she began raising her family. They eventually settled in Manassas, Virginia where she was a homemaker, and eventually worked at and retired from K-Mart.

Thelma was a beloved mother to 6 children, 2 boys and 4 girls, beloved Nana to 12 grandchildren, beloved Great Nana to 20 great grandchildren, and to 1 great, great granddaughter.
