Clara Loraine Bernstein of Abilene , 81, died Monday, August 29, 1994, at an Abilene hosptial. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wedbesday at Our Saviour lutheran Church with Rev Lavern janssen officiating, directed by North's Funeral Homme. Burial was at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery northeast of Albany.

Clara Loraine Schulz Bernstein was born April 30, 1931 to John G. and Anna (Noack) Schulz in Randlett, Oklahoma. She was raised in Shackelford County.

She married Alvin Bernard Bernstein March 13, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The couple made their home northeast of Albany where their threee daughters were born and raised. Along with their daughters, they were active in school, church and community, including the Fort Griffin Fandangle Association.

In 1959 they moved to Midland where they managed an apartment comples while continuing their cattle operations in Shackelford County. In 1973 they moved to Abilene.

Mrs. Bernstein was of Wendish heritage and was an avid supporter of the Texas Wendish Heritage Society of Serbin. This, and her life-long Luthern Church affiliation were her gifts to her family.
