Zereta (Rita) Irene Mann Bailey, 66, passed away September 14, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Rita was born June 1, 1952 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Daniel Sigle Mann and Kathryn Overby Mann.
She graduated from Coweta High School as Salutatorian of her class in 1970. She went on to attend Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, and then Northeastern University in Tahlequah, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Library Science. Rita taught in Davis, Oklahoma, Konowa Elementary School, Warner, Oklahoma and in the Muskogee Public School systems until her retirement in 2010. When Rita was ten years old, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Big Cabin Baptist Church.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Melissa Bailey of the home; brother, Larry Mann and wife Kathy of Checotah; two nephews, Dustin Mann of Checotah and Danny Mann of Clinton; niece Julie Tuthill of Checotah; cousin, Dianna Mann of Texanna, Oklahoma; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years; parents; and her mother-in-law, Lottie Bailey.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018 and inurned at a later date at the Triplett Cemetery in Texanna, Oklahoma.
