Mary's handmade quilts were legendary, beautiful works of art. Every stitch was done by hand, and the love she put into each of her creations was obvious. She was "green" before it was popular, reusing clothing to create her masterpieces. Each quilt was a walk down memory lane remembering a shirt she wore, or clothes she had made for herself and family.

HAINES CITY -- Mrs. Mary C. Milligan of Haines City died of heart failure Tuesday (Feb. 8, 2005) in Haines City. She was 87.
Born in Littlestown, Pa., on June 1, 1917, Mrs. Milligan came to Haines City from Detroit in 1978. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Detroit. She was an Episcopalian and attended Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Haines City.
Mrs. Milligan was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford A. Milligan. She is survived by her sons, Lyle D. Milligan, Haines City, the Rev. James H. Milligan, Fort Wayne, Ind.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at a later date. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial in Flatrock, Mich.
Memorials may be made to Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 901 Scenic Highway S., Haines City, 33844.
