MAIDEN - The Rev. Harry "Jack" Kale, 88, of Buffalo Shoals Road, Catawba, died
March 17, 2000, at his residence after a period of declining health.

Born Feb. 26, 1912 in Catawba County, he was a son the the late Ethel Jane Kale.
Founder and minister of United Missionary Baptist Church for 50 years, he was a
self-employed sawmill operator.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert
"Bob" Kale.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Sue Head Kale; a son and daughter-in-law, the
Rev. Richard and Jane Kale of Catawba; a daughter-in-law, Shelby Jean Kale of
Hickory; four grandsons, Jamie Kale of Catawba and Johnny Kale, Mark Kale and
Paul Kale of Hickory; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews and
nieces.

The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Donald Funderburke and Jody York at
2 p.m. Sunday at his church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes
prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the church from 7 to 8:30 tonight.

Road, Catawba, N.C. 28609.
