Born October 25, 1951, in Spartanburg, he was the son of Doug Blain and his wife Kay and Deloris "Dee" Pruitt and her husband Toddy, all of Spartanburg, and the husband of Angela (Casey) Blain.
He was employed with Xerox Corporation, attended Abner Baptist Church, was a member of the South Carolina Umpire Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame Youth League as a Baseball Umpire in Cooperstown, NY.
Surviving in addition to his parents and wife are two sons, Jeremy Douglas Blain of Spartanburg, and Joel Turner Blain of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Kelli Clune of Spartanburg; a brother, Randy Blain of Roebuck; and numerous step-brothers, step-sisters, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Samantha Rose Blain.
Visitation was 7:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Abner Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Richard A. Clark and the Rev. Rupert Guest. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Abner Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 170157, Spartanburg, SC 29301; or to the American SIDS Institute, 509 Augusta Drive, Marietta, GA 30067.
