Edgar Kindrell “Kinney” Wood, Jr. age 88, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home. Full Military Honors and Masonic Graveside Rites, will follow at Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wood was born in Washington County, and graduated from Georgia Military College and the United States Naval Academy. He retired after 20 years as Lt. Commander. After retirement he returned to Wilkinson County and worked for the Wilkinson County Tax Appraiser Office. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Evelyn Brantley Wood, his wife Betty Webb Wood, a daughter Elizabeth Kim Wood, and a granddaughter Elizabeth Margaret McCann. He was a member of the Toomsboro Christian Church, the American Legion, the Military Officers Association, a Past Master of the Irwinton Masonic Lodge and the Georgia Farm Bureau.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 at Moores Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Georgia Military College, Irwinton Masonic Lodge #150 F & AM, Masonic Children’s Home or the Macon Jazz Society.
