Maurine Mildred Bowen
April 16, 1922 - September 18, 2018

Maurine Mildred Bowen passed on to Heaven after 96 years of a full and loving life. She was born to Floyd and Ida Wiler in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

She married her high school sweetheart Richard (Dick) Bowen on Aug. 23, 1942, in the Little Brown Church in the Vail in Nashua, Iowa. Maurine and Dick raised three boys: David, Jim and Mark.

Maurine had many loves in her life including ice cream, gardening and her flowers, ice cream, the Denver Broncos, ice cream and card playing. She was a fierce competitor, not even letting her young grandchildren win! She had a very strong love for her Lord and Savior. She was a very talented artist and quilter. She always believed her greatest achievement was her family.

For the last nine years she has been residing at The Homestead Assisted Living in Montrose, Colorado, where she turned her apartment into a loving home. HopeWest Hospice has also been treating her for the past two years. Maurine and her family were blessed to receive the wonderful care provided by all of these selfless individuals.

She is survived by her sons: Jim (Maryanne) Bowen of Gunnison, Colorado; Mark (Jane) Bowen of Silver City, New Mexico; daughter-in-law Joni Bowen of Montrose, Colorado; her 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; son David; sisters: Helen Sherman; Grace Bragonier; Ruth Wynn; and granddaughter Susan Maurine Bowen.

A memorial service will be held at The Homestead in Montrose, Colorado, at 1819 Pavilion Drive on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. She will be joining her husband, Dick, in a burial service to be held at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins, Colorado, on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at noon. A celebration of her life will be held immediately after at Cafe Vino on College Avenue at 1:30 p.m.

Memorial donations can be made to the Colorado Talking Book Library, Volunteers of America or HopeWest Hospice.
