Julia Rochay Cumbee Knox, age 78 of Bolivia, NC passed away on Friday the fourteenth of September 2018 in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, Wilmington, NC. Julia was born in Winnabow, NC on the twenty fifth of May 1940 to the late Alva Albert and Sudie Benton Cumbee. She was a lady who gave so much of herself to her family, church, friends and community which she loved so much. She was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Bolivia and was always active in the choir, Sunday school and was always involved in cooking for the many events of the church. A lady who was good with her hands, she was often busy cooking, sewing and simply doing for family and friends. Julia was an member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Live Oak Chapter No 179, Southport, NC and very involved in events of the Brunswick County Shrine Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Wendell Knox; two brothers, Delmas Cumbee and Burnice Cumbee. Survivors include her loving children, James Arthur Knox, Lynn Moore and husband Mike, Billy Hickman and wife Amanda, Wendell Knox and wife Roni all of Bolivia; a sister, Ethel Fosnough of Leland, NC; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning of Thursday the twenty seventh of September 2018 in the Bethel United Methodist Church, with The Reverend Karen C. Howell and The Reverend Kenneth Benton officiating. Interment will follow in the David R. Mercer Cemetery. You are cordially invited to a time of visitation with the family for one hour prior to the service in the church.
