J.P. SACKETT DEAD
Well Known Citizen Dies After Long Illness.

J.P. Sackett died at his home in Nashville on Friday, February 28, 1913, at the age of 76 years and 10 days, after a long illness. Mr. Sackett was born February 18, 1837 at Milford, Ind., and came to Nashville in 1866, and has been a resident of this city ever since that time. He was married at Tamaroa, Ill., Dec. 31, 1879, to Miss Mary L. Corgan, of that place, who, with one son and five daughters, survives him.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the family residence in Nashville, and was conducted by Mr. and Mrs. John Tucker, of Centralia, Christian Science practitioners. The burial was in Odd Fellows cemetery, and and was conducted under the auspices of the Nashville Masonic lodge, whose ritualistic ceremonies were performed at the grave. The pall bearers were Chas. Lutz, Chas. Anderson, Peter Ziegel, Dr. J.P. Leibrock, B.B. Holston and N.F. Jones.

Mr. Sackett was an old and highly esteemed citizen of Nashville, and the bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in their affliction.

Mr. Sackett is survived by his widow, one son, Everett Sackett, of Los Angeles, Cal., five daughters, Mrs. Otto Buhrman, of Jacksonville, Ill., Misses Lulu and Mayme Sackett, who are teachers in the East St. Louis public schools, and Misses Maud and Madge Sackett, of Nashville, and two grandchildren, Mildren Ellen and Francis John Sackett, of Los Angeles. He also has three brothers living in Kansas, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Greiner, of Philadelphia, Pa.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John Tucker, Mrs. Clark and Miss Cunningham, of Centralia; J.R. Preston and Mrs. Belle Barnett, of St. Louis; H.P. Williams, of East St. Louis, Mr.s and Mrs. Otto Buhrman, of Jacksonville; Mr. and Mrs. D.L. Kimmel, Mr.s and Mrs. Will Lee, Gover and Frank Lee, and Roy King, of Du Quoin.
