Stephen Miles Clachrie was born July 12, 1951, Westerly, Washington County, Rhode Island, a child of Alan Bruce Clachrie and Phyllis Host. When Stephen was young, he acquired the nickname "Gumbo" by his cousins. Stephen attended Chariho High School, and worked at Electric Boat and Connecticut Casting as a Maintenance Technician. Stephen had a lifelong interest in astronomy and was an amateur photographer. He loved Science Fiction and Western movies, especially Clint Eastwood. He also enjoyed the Chevy Corvette he owned years ago. Stephen never married, had no children, and passed away peacefully at the Westerly Hospital from complications of COPD.
