Sara Marie Vigen, 22, of 1719½ 5th Ave. N., a community relations manager, died Sunday of injuries she received in an auto accident near Geyser.
Her funeral is 1 p.m. today at Belt Community Church, with burial at Pleasant View Cemetery in Belt. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
She is survived by her fiancé and best friend, Kevin Johnson of Belt; her mother, Gail Vigen; sister Rhiannon Vigen and nephew and godson, Nickolas George Vigen; her grandmother, Pat Vigen; aunts Becky (Randy) McDaniel and Linda Schindele, all of Great Falls; uncles Gary Bestwina of Belt, Kevin (Sandy) Vigen of Renton, Wash., and Marty (Jolie) Vigen of Seattle, Wash.; as well as several cousins.
Sara graduated from Great Falls High and attended Colorado State University and Montana State University-Billings, where she graduated cum laude in health promotion, with a minor in art. Sara was named the 2007 Outstanding Senior in Health Promotion.
Sara recently became engaged to the love of her life, Kevin Johnson. They were planning a home outside of Belt at 436 E. Highwood Road, where they were eager to start their life together and put their own personal touches on the family ranch. The Johnsons loved Sara very much and were very excited to have her as an official member of their family.
Sara was just beginning her career with the American Cancer Society as a community relationship manager, and was looking forward to working with volunteers in the communities of northcentral Montana as she organized several "Relay For Life" fundraisers.
Sara was full of energy and enjoyed running, snowboarding and mountain biking. She was very passionate about art, poetry and photography. She had tremendous fashion sense and especially enjoyed shopping for the perfect handbag or pair of shoes.
Sara's family and friends were very important to her. She loved being an aunt to her godson, Nickolas George Vigen, as well as her "niece," Ilah Johnson and "nephew," Ty Kanning. She gave selflessly to the causes she believed in and will be remembered as being especially kind and caring. Being the inspiration that she was, Sara blessed the lives of all who knew her. Words alone cannot express how much Sara was loved, or how very much she will be missed.
She was preceded in death by grandparents George and Violet Bestwina and Marty Vigen Sr.; and an uncle, Chuck Schindele.
Memorials in Sara's name are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 550 N. 31st St., No. 103, Billings, MT 59101; or the Belt Ambulance, Belt, MT 59412.
Condolences may be sent online to schniderfuneralhome.com and/or greatfallstribune.com/obituaries.
