He was employed for 12 years at Slip Knot Belting Co. He was a member of the Long's Bend Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his widow, Ruby Hunley Ferrell; one son, Joseph Marion Jr., two daughters, Miss Brenda Ferrell and Miss Phyllis Ferrell; his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Alfred Ferrell; one brother, Luther J. Ferrell, and one sister, Miss Virginia Ferrell, all of Surgoinsville.
Funeral services will be held in the Shady Grove Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Charlie Hurd, the Rev. Elbert Hemmard, and the Rev. Roy Presley will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be W.A. Greer, Tom Cox, P.O. Jones, W.S. Dow, S.E. Hendrix and P.J. Shivell. The body will be removed from Colboch-Price Funeral Home to his residence at Surgoinsville at 3 p.m. Thursday.
